BARBERAThe founder of the Barbera family, Renzo Barbera, settled his residence at Villa ai Colli in Palermo, Sicily in the late 1800's. Renzo inherited from his father The country estate, an antique villa built in 1600, that was first owned by the Prince of Buonfornello.Renzo, who transformed his immense terrain into an agricultural company, dedicating the land to the cultivation of citrus fruits and olive trees.
Today, Manfredi Barbera maintains combines traditional values with innovative spirit to produce first-rate quality products.
Barbera has singled out over 10 zones in Sicily that are mainly situated in the western region of the island, such as the provinces of Trapani, Agrigento and Palermo, where the varieties Nocellara, Biancolilla, Cerasuola, Ogliarola and other minor local varieties are grown.
Each phase of the cultivation (from the pruning of the trees to the harvesting of the olives) are constantly supervised. The oil thus selected, is decanted in steel tanks for a variable period from 2 to 10 weeks and then brought into the bottling plant, in Palermo, where monocultivar (a single olive variety) or blend (of different olive varieties) products with a great personality and pleasing flavor are created.
