Montsia produces premium quality short-grain rice from the delta of the Ebro River in Southern Catalonia, Spain. The Arabs brought rice to Spain from Asia in the eight century and Spain was the conduit through which rice flowed into Europe. Today, the east coast of Spain is one of Europe's great rice-producing regions.
Also called "Bomba" the rice from this region is protected under the Denomination of Origin from Rio d'Ebro. Its excellent liquid absortion makes this rice the ultimate rice for the traditional Spanish Paella.
